Working, feeling good, getting healthy: connected lighting in the daily routine of a hospital
Allowing doctors and nurses to carry out concentrated, accurate work and an atmosphere that improves well-being and helps patients recover: Zumtobel’s LITECOM infinity lighting management system manages the lighting throughout the new “Haus 100” building at the Evangelisches Krankenhaus Königin Elisabeth Herzberge hospital in Berlin. The intelligent lighting solution reconciles users’ various requirements and needs and also ensures optimum energy efficiency.
Zumtobel implemented a vision of light as an assistant to staff and patients in the new hospital building at the Evangelisches Krankenhaus Königin Elisabeth Herzberge in Berlin. “Haus 100”, opened in December 2018, is connected with the existing building by a bridge. It houses the diabetes centre, the medical care centre, the neurology and diabetes ward as well as the consultation rooms.
Different light requirements in the daily routine of the hospital
Whether bright, clear light in which the corridors are cleaned, or warm mood lighting to make your time in the waiting room as pleasant as possible: to meet the various requirements for the daily routine of the hospital, in the Krankenhaus Königin Elisabeth Herzberge, Zumtobel used LITECOM infinity. The lighting management system centrally controls all luminaires in the public area of the building.
Lighting control at your fingertips
Thanks to integrated sensors, the lighting reacts to presence, which makes it extremely energy-efficient. It also adopts the dynamics of daylight. The light supports people’s natural circadian rhythm and ensures maximum visual comfort. Using a web application, the building managers can easily configure the lighting, define basic settings and pre-programme various lighting scenarios. Touch panels in the reception area also allow the hospital staff to intuitively adapt illuminance and mood lighting by themselves.
Intelligent lighting solution – from the reception to the consulting room
An innovative luminaire design greets visitors and patients right from the reception area: with glare control and gentle light distribution, the pendant luminaire SEQUENCE ensures a pleasant atmosphere. ONDARIA round luminaires illuminate the stairwells homogeneously and ensure maximum safety.
In the corridors, the elegant light lines of the SLOTLIGHT infinity support staff and patients. With targeted, clear lines, they are an important element in guiding visitors through the new building.
In the treatment rooms, Zumtobel luminaires support good visibility, creating the best conditions in which to treat patients. Doctors and nurses can adapt the lighting to their individual requirements. With their minimalist design and glare-free light, the LIGHT FIELDS luminaires are ideal for the demands of the hospital’s daily routine.
User-friendly and economical
“The Krankenhaus Königin Elisabeth Herzberge benefits from our complete solution and the modern lighting control system – everything fits and works together”, explains Zumtobel sales representative Claudia Siebert. “The lighting is professional, user-friendly and modern. It also helps reduce operating, maintenance and energy costs.”
Over three floors and 5,500 square metres, “Haus 100” sets the standard for future-proof lighting in the healthcare sector: patients enjoy comfort, an increased sense of well-being as well as safety. Doctors and nurses benefit from optimal lighting, which makes all the important details visible during an examination or procedure. And last but not least, hospital administrators enjoy reduced energy consumption and high profitability. In short, a win-win situation for everyone, thanks to LITECOM infinity.
